Joan Brown is the founder and creative director of JOAN BROWN INTERIORS,
INC., founded in 1996. Joan merged her expertise in design, along
with her extensive merchandising experience, to
develop her unique blend of interior design. Joan believes the
key to a successful collaboration is listening to the client and
understanding their needs and goals before
starting on any project. From color treatment to custom furniture,
Joan collaborates with her clients from the initial consultation
to the final
delivery and placement.
Joan works in a variety of styles including traditional, transitional
and contemporary.
Joan began her decorating career in 1995 at the famed Prince Michel
Winery owned by Jean Le Ducq. Originally hired to develop their
gift shop, Joan was asked to custom design
their luxury suites. She oversaw an entire makeover, giving each
suite its own unique look and feel. The final result was a great
success, prompting Joan to start her own
company in 1996. In July 2004, Joan opened her design studio in
Culpeper.
Prior to becoming a decorator, Joan was a successful executive in
the fashion world. She started her career with Esprit Clothing as
a sales merchandiser and later became
one of the top sales people in the country. She then joined Mexx
where she was one of their top sales people in the country. Joan
moved from sales to fashion
merchandising for Liz Clairborne and Echo Scarves.
Joan Brown Interiors, Inc. is headquartered in Culpeper, Virginia,
servicing both residential and commercial clients in Virginia, Maryland and
Washington DC areas. Joan is a graduate of St.
Mary's College in Moraga, Calfiornia. Joan resides in Reva, Virginia,
with her family.
Joan, an award winning designer, represents a varied list of vendors including Fabricut,
Kravet, Duralee, Kasmir and Hunter Douglas window treatments.
